Pre-test and Post-test Performance
Many of the projects have assessed gains by level of prior knowledge and related gains to other instructional variables. These studies show that well-designed projects that include pilot testing and refinement in classroom settings generally improve the scientific understanding of students with both high and low prior knowledge. Taken together, these studies demonstrate that scientific visualizations embedded in inquiry projects can improve student learning of complex science concepts such as electricity, mitosis, and the rock cycle.
