Design Feedback from Chem. Reactions run at BHS June 2007

Summary: Climate Model Reset button
Details: The Climate Models RESET button should reset all of the slider parameters to their initial state. Currently they don't reset to initial values. Makes it hard for a student to get back on track if they tried some wild experimentation.
2) Priority/Owner: ? / ?
Summary: Saving files on desktop
Details: We need to prevent data files from proliferating on the desktop. All data files needs to be saved in nested folders. Currently, a laptop used for three periods all week soon has 40+ icons filling the screen. Confusing to students.
SOLUTION: this problem shouldn't appear on WINDOWS; on mac, specify the browser's default download location
3) Priority/Owner: A / ?
Summary: Discussion Step revisions
Details: The Discussion Step needs some fixes based on user testing:
A) Revise "Add a Comment" text to "Add a New Comment"
B) Need to add another version of the "Add a New Comment" to the bottom of the message stream. Many students couldn't find the single link at top of screen.
C) Revise "Reply" link to read "Reply to this Comment" Also BOLD this link.
D) Revise the "Options" link intro two separate unbolded links: "Edit" and "Delete" Many students wanted to edit their existing comment and didn't think clicking "Options" was intuitive.
E) Need new "Admin link. If clicked requests teachers UserName and password. If entered then an "Identity" and "Delete" link appears on each Comment. The teacher can click Identity to confirm the authors of an anonymous comment. The delete link deletes an problemmatic/inappropriate comment. The teacher can click the "Admin Mode Off" link to return to standard mode.

Summary: Need Progress Bar while loading Show All work
Details: While Show All Work is loading we should display a "Loading..." animated progress bar to help students be patient.
5) Priority/Owner: B / ?
Summary: Need shorter Show All Work load time
Details: Currently is takes 30+ seconds to load ShowAllWork on the Mac, a bit less on the PC. We must be able to load this data in under 7 seconds, maximum. (7 second interactivity rule).
6) Priority/Owner: B / ?
Summary: Need "Upload in Progress/ Upload Complete" Message
Details: While Student Work is being uploaded they should see a progress bar stating "Your work is being uploaded to the WISE server. Please wait."
When the upload is complete, the message window refresh to show: "Upload complete! Your latest work has been saved to the WISE server." and then quit the application.
7) Priority/Owner: B / ?
Summary: Need "Unsuccessful Upload" Message
Details: If Student Work can't be uploaded the server, the student should get the message: "WISE server not found -- please notify your teacher. Your work has not yet been uploaded to the WISE server. It will be uploaded automatically the next time this computer loads WISE and connects to the Internet.

Summary: Need Followup-Upload Message
Details: If a computer boots WISE we should check to see if there is an "Unsuccessful Load" of Student work waiting. If so we should try to upload it to the server. Once it is uploaded we should deliver the message: "Work completed previously by [Username 1 & Username 2] has been successfully uploaded to the WISE server." User clicks CONTINUE button to move on.
