ePortfolios collect student work and enable exchange with other LMS and CMS services through XML and web services.
In UCWISE, the ePortfolio would consist of student notes, entries in brain-storming sessions, histories of interactions with the Scheme listener, plus all formal assessment items and feedback from instructors.
In SAIL I'd expect to have queries, passively browsed resources, and other items collected here.
There is an IMS group working on specs for ePortfolios and formats for interchange so that the contents can be passed along and aggregrated across systems.
