The purpose of the Teacher Classroom support tool is to allow teachers in real-time to communicate with students and view their project progress. it will also allow teachers to assess and comment on students work.
Priority levels
must be done for Hilary run (students learn and produce work that she can grade)
important to be done for Hilary run (for us to test new features that we think will be vital)
nice to be done for Hilary run
no point in doing in for Hilary run
way down the road
Requirements for this can be broken down into a couple of categories:
Offerings
Requirement
Offerings are agnostic to the tool that makes them
Use Case
Run (offering) is a SAIL entity, not WISE or TELS. Thus we cannot depend on TELS design features like a web site.
A WISE run is the WISE version of SAIL offering. From a collection of available projects a teacher selects one to run. The teacher goes through a sequence of steps to prepare the run for their classroom, period, etc...similar to the wise run setup. This scenario can take place either in the classroom or outside the classroom, e.g. at the teachers home, in between periods, etc...

Specify users in run
Use Case
When users register for an account currently in wise they associate themselves with a teacher via a teacher code and a period. When a teacher creates a run and associates the run with a set of periods, the student will see the available runs in their student portal if they are contained in that set of chosen periods. Users should be able to associate themselves with multiple teachers.

Requirement
Modifying student accounts
Use Case
Have the ability to fix usernames and change passwords. The ideal scenario is similar to the way a teacher can do it in Wise now. Teachers have the option of looking at a class list and changing individual students logins and passwords from that. Also they have the option of changing students passwords in batch. One feature that would be useful would be the ability to assign a common password to all the students in a class.

8/11/05 From my conversation with D. Kirkpatick he clearing indicated that teachers love the webbased student/classroom management portal. It allows teachers at their convenience(at home, not on a school computer,etc..) to manage their classroom/runs with little setup. additionally, a classroom teacher tool would be more like a "run tool". Meaning its functionality would be simple, show the status/progress of student work during the run.
